Full Day
An exclusive tour which takes in parts of Fiordland, few get to visit. Experience flying over NZ's iconic Milford Sound and land on a glacier.
This remote and exclusive full day experience will take you to parts of Fiordland few people ever get to experience. In addition it includes flying over NZ’s iconic Milford Sound and landing on a glacier.
Leaving the foreshore of Lake Te Anau you will follow the lake up into the Eglington Valley, a path carved out by ancient glaciers. Then you fly past The Divide. This is the mountain range which separates East & West Fiordland. From here, land in the spectacular Hollyford Valley.
The Hollyford and Martins Bay area has some of the most rugged scenery and interesting early European history that NZ has to offer. Sweeping beaches, lush rainforest and crystal-clear rivers attracted early settlers with dreams of farming prosperity. However these dreams dissolved further with every passing year.
This trip allows you the opportunity to explore this outstanding natural environment and to engage with the history of the area. The landscape is rich in bird life, towering podocarp forests, sand dunes and deserted boulder beaches. You can enjoy all this and more, with plenty of opportunity to stretch your legs and be guided through this area. There will also be time to stop for a freshly prepared gourmet picnic lunch en route.
Following your walk, discover the famous Milford Sound and its spectacular scenery by air– including Mitre Peak & Sutherland Falls. Land on one of the breath-taking glaciers for a photo opportunity. Your return journey will take you along the Murchison Mountains, a special conservation area paramount in the management of the endangered flightless bird, the Takahe, which is only found here in the wild.
We can also provide pickups/drop offs to Queenstown – just ask us at time of booking. Price will vary.
